In getting ready to print this blog in book form as a record of our time in New Zealand, I interleaved Cindy’s blog entries, directly imported a few photos, but the other links to photos online will have to be to a companion photo album instead.
There are also a number of blog posts I never got around to writing beyond a title and reminder note, including:
Time – I work five days a week. After spending all day on the computer, do I want to… …work more on the computer, do paperwork (bills, etc), play, time for me, time for Cindy…
Phone + Internet – It should be easy, right? Phone line, internet. Start with apartment. Woosh phone. Here – setup, wireless, blown-up router, still blinken lights. Guess what? Another project that takes time.
Blogging – Ref. time post. Best thoughts while falling asleep/waking up/driving to/from work, but then lost while asleep, shower, at work. Like today, but I managed to get notes written down before heading out. Hopefully I’ll remember the full eloquence I had at 6am in bed when I next get around to writing!
(Based on these drafts, I obviously failed to remember all the details of what I wanted to write, or had the time or took the time to write them!)
Driving Creek Potteries and Railway – TBD.

School Experiences
– No student introduction
– No supply list
– Teacher not knowing where room is.
– No clear startup re: registration ahead of time, first days of school.
– Textbooks not ready
– Library not having copies
– No passing time, only start times, so you’re always late.
– “Donation” – required or not?
– Had to buy a book for English.
(Well, clearly this was a rant of issues we had getting Max set up at Westlake Boys. Being an engineer, I’m always looking for things that can be fixed or improved upon… Sorry!)
Of toilets and cyclones – Half-flush buttons, etc.
(Clearly I was enamoured with running into dual-flush toilets for the first time! – See entry further below. Don’t remember about the cyclones though…)
Work, teams, career… – Discuss Navman, coming full-circle career-wise, make a change, teams/working together/community…

(Dual-flush toilets didn’t exist in the US yet, and those we found in New Zealand varied in how well the dual-flush was designed for the uninitiated user to understand…!)
New Roads… – Returning, new job, new house, moving, graduating…
A sense of place, a sense of purpose – Sarah and us, at different stages, looking for a sense of place, and a sense of purpose. Where do we belong? What do we want to do when we grow up?
