Okay, nothing very exciting to write about. But here goes…
Rick plugs away in his second week of work. He is attending orientation meetings and getting settled in his new office. Last Friday the company had a BBQ and beer was served. Would that happen in the states?!
Max and I walk about our local surroundings. There is a beautiful rose garden that we visited which slopes down to the water. Very nice. Roses should start blooming in a week or so. We will need to go back before we move to the North Shore.
On mundane matters, we now have squared away our insurance needs, including car, contents and coverage for Rick’s kayak. We bought appliances and made arrangements for them to be installed at our new place on Friday. And we’ve gotten our library cards! That has me really excited. Max checked out two books and I have hardly seen him since. I checked out a modest pile of 15 books and magazines. Ahhh… just like home.
We move from our temporary apartment in Parnell to our rental house in Milford on Friday and are looking forward to it. Today I take care of change of address business at the post office and bank. Also have water and power changed over to our name. Ohhh, the exciting details of moving.
I did not notice any Halloween candy but did see some costumes in a store. We also located mozzarella cheese in a grocery store on the North Shore (where we are moving). And I found yeast in packets that did not cost $7. It just takes time to find where things are. But still no frozen orange juice.
And lastly, we learned that our shipping container left a week later then we expected and is traveling to New York first. Does that make sense to anyone? So I wonder if that means the ship will go through the Panama Canal twice before it moves onto New Zealand. Maybe we will find out the answer to that question if the shipping company gets back to us. So no furniture until December 5th or so. Sigh….
